Want to watch Viaplay in the US? The bad news? That if you are not in Sweden, you at least need to be in the EU to make it work. The good news? That there is a way to unblock Viaplay in the US. And we’ll go over it in this guide.
The reason for why Viaplay is not available in the US is the same reason for why American services are not available in Sweden. It goes down to rights to the content.
Viaplay pays for rights to show the likes of the Premier League in Sweden, and since its target audience is Sweden, it only has the rights to show the Premier League in Sweden.
...And well, even if Viaplay tried to get rights for the Premier League in the US, platforms like CBS already have rights to it, making it incredibly hard to do.
The result? That Viaplay just doesn’t work in the US.
That’s why to unblock Viaplay; you are going to need to make Viaplay think you are in Sweden, while also creating an account which isn’t as simple as it may look.
But before we get into how to unblock Viaplay in the US, it might be worth mentioning that unless you are looking for Swedish shows and sports with Swedish commentary, you might be better off with Canadian DAZN, which is over 3 times more affordable, and more content-packed. In order to unblock Viaplay in the USA, you need to make Viaplay think you are in Sweden, and to do that, you are going to need to be in Sweden, virtually.
How do you do that?
By using a VPN.
Never heard of VPN services? People use them for both staying safe on the internet, but also to change their locations virtually, so that they can unblock services like Viaplay.
But if you ever tried to use a VPN for such a purpose then you might already know that it’s not as simple as just connecting to a Swedish server.
