Do you want to know how to watch Hulu in the Netherlands? Welcome to the team. Everyone in Europe has to search for how to do it. And that’s whether you live in the UK, Canada, or France.
If you aren’t fully sure about what Hulu is but are interested in finding out, Hulu is a platform that allows you stream TV shows and movies from the likes of CBS, NBC, ABC, BBC, A&E, and many more, the day after episodes air. Netflix is a great platform for shows and movies, but unless you are watching something made by Netflix, you will need to wait for months to see it. And while Netflix has created some fantastic content such as Stranger Things or The Alienist, it has also created some overly poorly shows or shows that have started great, yet ended up being changed purpose to fit a younger audience.
Netflix is also pretty limited as far as content outside of the US goes which we did go over on our blog, so if you already have a Netflix account, it’s probably worth checking that blog post out, but to sum up, as far as TV shows that are up to date go, Hulu is in many ways a better option.
The problem is that Hulu doesn’t work in the Netherlands in 2019, and most likely won’t work there in 2020 either, but if you are willing to dedicate a few minutes of your life to read this post, we’ll share how you can make Hulu work in the Netherlands or anywhere else on the planet.
What’s Needed to watch Hulu in the Netherlands in 2019?
Right away, the first step might turn you off, and yes, it does make making Hulu work in the Netherlands far more complicated, but with the right knowledge, it’s also not that hard.
The second and third steps aren’t necessarily easy as it does require reading about what to do, but once you know what needs to be done, you will always know how to make Hulu work in the Netherlands.
To make Hulu work in the Netherlands in 2019, you first need an account. That’s where you also need an American card.
Apart from the American card issue, making a Hulu account overall is easy, you just need to pretend as in you live in the US.
Some other guides say that you can use gift cards, and that’s true, but what they fail to mention is that you first need a Hulu account to use a gift card, and for that, you do need an American card.
Our suggestions for getting an American card to make Hulu work in the Netherlands?
If you want to watch Hulu in the Netherlands, Hulu needs to think that you are in the US, and in order for it to think that, you need to use a VPN.
VPN services allow you to change your location on the internet, without moving.
The key here is to get a VPN that supports Hulu. Any VPN can change your location, but to get a VPN that will make Hulu work in the Netherlands, that’s hard.
That’s due to the fact that Hulu needs to take make measures to prevent VPN services from working in order to satisfy companies with rights to content.
And that’s where PrivateVPN comes in as one of the only VPN services that work with Hulu. You make an account within 60 seconds on our site, you connect to our American Hulu server, and that’s it.
PrivateVPN doesn’t have hundreds upon hundreds of servers and that’s because it invests in quality rather than quantity. That’s why PrivateVPN supports the most Netflix regions on the market even though a lot of services have far more servers.
And speaking of support, if you need support, we are there for you. This is what Attila said on a review on vpnMentor:
This will only apply if you want to watch on your phone or on the Fire TV Stick as if you are on a desktop device, you can watch directly from the web browser. Unfortunately, neither the likes of Chromecast nor Apple TV support VPN services so if you desire to watch on these, the solution is to invest in the Fire TV Stick that costs around $25.
On Apple devices, you just need to make a new iCloud account with your location set to be in the US.
You do this by logging out of your current iCloud account and creating a new one, with American details.
The reason behind why you can’t just change your location is that if you do, you will lose everything. However, you can log back into the old account after downloading Hulu.
Getting a new account will allow you to download Hulu, and thus, to make Hulu work in the Netherlands on Apple devices.
On Android devices, you do the complete opposite of what you do on Apple devices.
You need to change your details in your current account.
Google has a section about how you can do that. When changing your details, make sure to have them to be in the US.
If you can’t think of an American address, search for an address generator.
Changing stores on the Fire TV Stick isn’t as easy as on Android devices themselves.
This should allow you to download Hulu.
In rare instances, the card added to your account might prevent that. If that’s the case, remove it, and if that doesn’t help, try to use the card you used to sign up on Hulu. Otherwise, you could also try to download Hulu from a different app store by searching “Hulu.apk” on the internet. You will need to download an app for downloading apps content on your device though. Search for “Downloader” on your Fire TV for that. To install apps outside of the store, make sure to enable installation from unknown sources. You can enable such installation by going to Settings, My Fire TV, and Developer Options.
It’s not hard to watch Hulu in the Netherlands. Getting an American card is. The great thing about this tutorial is that PrivateVPN also works with DAZN, Amazon Prime, Netflix, BBC iPlayer, and many others, so if you want to use any of those services too, or already are using Netflix, PrivateVPN will help you with those too!
