Want to watch Paramount+ in Ireland? It’s most likely not coming to Ireland any time soon. That doesn’t mean that you can’t watch it. There is a way to get Paramount+ in Ireland, and in this guide we cover that, including account creation, as one of our many entertainment guides around unblocking content in Ireland.
...But first...
In 2020, Paramount+ was called CBS All-Access but rebranded into Paramount+ going into 2021.
...With its rebranding, the new platform launched across several regions, with that not including Ireland.
Why?
Primarily because Paramount+ doesn’t have the rights to do so.
A lot of the content it shows, other platforms already show in Ireland, and in order for that to change, contracts would need to expire.
...In cases of sports, with the likes of the Champions League, other platforms already also have rights to it, meaning that if Paramount+ was to launch in Ireland, it would in many ways be somewhat limited.
...Since Paramount+ in Ireland is not a thing, in order not to break contracts, Paramount+ needs to make efforts to prevent people in countries where the platform is not supported, from watching.
...As a result there are two steps that you need to take to make Paramount+ work in the UK.
If you go to Paramount’s website while in Ireland, it will know you are not in a supported region, and thus will prevent you from signing up.
Paramount has to do that in order to not breach any current contract.
...To bypass this issue you are going to need to use a VPN.
VPN services allow you to virtually change your region, without moving. In this case, you can be in the US while actually in Ireland.
Is that all it takes?
Not quite.
Paramount knows of VPN services. All major platforms know of them. And if they can’t show you something, then they also need to make efforts to prevent people from watching via the use of VPN services.
...As a result most VPN services don’t work with Paramount+.
...And that’s where PrivateVPN comes in as a service that focuses on entertainment and making sure entertainment platforms work whether that’s Paramount+ in Ireland, or whether you are trying to watch RTE Player in the US.
...If you do already happen to have a Paramount+ account, then in your case, that is it. If not, continue reading⬇️.
This is a topic most guides don’t mention, but that is so important because without an account, it doesn’t matter if you unblocked Paramount+.
...And it’s not quite as simple as providing your details and paying to create an account.
You need to have a card issued in the country you are signing up from, with that being in the US, in this case.
How do you do it? By signing up via your phone.
That’s because Paramount+ doesn’t take care of payments on mobile devices. Apple and Google do. And they do not enforce such blocks.
...There is however one catch. You will need to change the region of your app store to first download the Paramount+ app which we will show how to do now⬇️.
If you would like, you can, of course, sign back into your previous account after you have done that and Paramount+ will still be there.
It’s not quite as simple to watch Paramount+ on a TV in Ireland as one might imagine.
Apple TV, Chromecast, and Roku are great platforms, but they don’t support VPN services. Neither do most Smart TVs.
Solutions? Either get an Amazon Fire TV Stick which does work with VPN services, or otherwise to simply connect a laptop with a TV via an HDMI port.
If you already have an Amazon Fire TV Stick, you will need to change the region of your current account:
Just ordered an Amazon Fire TV Stick? Simply select for your region to be the US.
...But that’s also how to watch many other services in Ireland such as Hulu.
The steps are almost identical, and if you implement changing of your app store, then all you will need to do is simply to connect to a US PrivateVPN server and simply to download the Hulu app or whatever American server you want to use.
...But to sum up this Paramount+ in Ireland guide.
