Is Netflix Worth It in 2020 with Disney Plus Being Out?

The end of 2019 wasn’t a great time for Netflix. Disney Plus came out taking back a bunch of its content, creating the first major competition to Netflix in years, and bringing the question of is Netflix worth it in 2020. Or should you get Disney Plus instead, or should you perhaps stick with both?

The Content

Those that haven’t researched Disney Plus would assume that Netflix is for sure still worth it, as after all, being able to watch Disney content is great, but you can only watch so much Disney content until you get bored, right?

...Well, Disney Plus isn’t just about Disney.

It’s also about the other platforms that Disney owns, such as Lucasfilm, Marvel, or 21st Century Fox, which owns The Simpsons, Family Guy, Avatar, and much more, with Avatar movies coming in the next few years.

That brings the question of whether you prefer well-known franchises such as Marvel, or whether you trust Netflix creators.

As far as Netflix goes, while Netflix has lost quite a bit of shows in the last few months due to Disney Plus, it has also released a ton of great new ones, whether it’s their first season or their continuation.

Examples of that?

The English Game. A show based at the beginning of football, when “football was a game for Gentlemen” and not the working class.

Perhaps it’s the perfect time to watch it now, with a lot less football around?

Netflix doesn’t get all the shows and movies right, and as far as stories, we do trust the content of Disney Plus a lot more, but Netflix is worth it in a sense that it’s more courageous with the stories it tells, and from the sense that it does have much more content.

Adult version of a teenage drama with Elite, South Korean show about a plague based in the 1500s, a series about how to prevent a Pandemic. This is content that Disney Plus wouldn’t be courageous enough to have,

Netflix is Losing Content, But...

Netflix has lost quite a bit of content due to Disney Plus, but it is making up for it with its own content more than ever before.

And it has to if it wants to stay relevant.

The main advantage that Disney has is that it owns its content. That’s why it was able to take its own content away from Netflix after the contracts in place allowed for this.

Netflix, for a very long-time, depended on paying for rights to the content that other companies made.

...Something that resulted in not all Netflix users having access to the same content.

An issue Disney does not have.

That’s however, only a problem for those that don’t take a minute to research how to solve that issue.

And it’s pretty simple.

It’s possible to unblock all of the major Netflix regions wherever you are in the world, just like it’s possible to unblock Disney Plus in regions it’s not available in yet, by using a VPN. The right VPN for entertainment.

VPN services are used for many things, but most commonly so that people can unblock blocked content in their countries.

With that said, not all VPN services are created equally...

Most have a ton of servers, and that’s great, except it’s not really useful for unblocking streaming services that have special blocks against VPN services.

That’s why having thousands of servers isn’t necessarily as useful as having a few hundreds of servers.

And this is where PrivateVPN comes in as a service that focuses on entertainment with support for the most Netflix regions on the market, and also for Disney Plus.

What does that mean? That if you try the PrivateVPN’s 7-day free trial with no need for a card, that you can unblock the content that’s on Netflix, but that’s not on your Netflix.

And that even applies to people living in the US.

Pricing

Pricing, of course, plays a big role when considering is Netflix worth it in 2020.

...And yes, Disney Plus is cheaper than Netflix. Matter of fact, the Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ bundle is priced at similar costs to Netflix, giving you the opportunity to also watch the likes of UFC live, and some of the shows that are on Hulu.

...But then again, Netflix does have more content.

Is Netflix Worth It in 2020?

Frankly, this depends on who’s watching.

If your kids will spend most of their time watching, this is where Disney Plus is probably more worth it.

If you love Star Wars, Disney made an incredible TV show about it, meanwhile Marvel, well it speaks for itself.

National Geographic documentaries are great on Disney Plus, meanwhile, Netflix is doing an incredible job in the entire niche of documentaries.

And that’s why perhaps it’s worth getting both, and to unblock Netflix with a VPN to get the most out of it.
